Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

So I owe everyone an apology.  I thought I had put this recipe on my blog earlier.  When I went to look for it to show someone, I realized it had not done it.  So here it is. . .   It is from America’s Test Kitchen, Perfect Chocolate Chip cookies.  I tweak it just a little by adding a combination of chocolates and always pecans (I think they just taste better than walnuts). So for those of you that love these cookies go ahead and make them.  You don’t need any fancy equipment they are mixed by hand.  Let me know how you make out and post a picture to #bakelikejane.

*this recipe uses browned butter, if you don’t know how to brown butter watch this tutorial https://www.thekitchn.com/basic-techniques-how-to-brown-77018

Ingredients

1 3/4 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
14 Tablespoons butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 egg
1 egg yolk
2 cups chocolate chips
1 cup nuts

Directions
Preheat oven to 375

In a large frying pan, melt 10 tablespoons of butter till starting to brown.  With the other 4 tablespoons cut up into a large bowl.  When the butter has browned pour it over the butter in the pan and stir till melted.

While the butter is browning I like to measure out all my other ingredients.

Combine flour, baking soda, salt and set aside.
Measure out the egg, egg yolk and vanilla, set aside
Measure the brown sugar and sugar.

Add the sugars to the melted bowl and stir to combine.  Let the butter and sugar sit till it cools down and the sugar is almost melted.  Whisk in the eggs and vanilla and whisk till cohesive.  add in the dry ingredients and switch to a wooden spoon.  It will mix better this way.  When almost combined add in chocolate chips and nuts.  Stir till all ingredients and mixed together.

Scoop dough in large 3 tablespoons size onto parchment lined baking sheet.  Space @ 2 1/2 inches apart.  Bake for 12-15 minutes till lightly browned and dry looking.  Remove and let cool.  Enjoy with a glass of milk.

They freeze beautifully and are always nice to have on hand when company shows up.  10 seconds in the microwave and they are soft and delicious

Enjoy!!!
